Limited Edition Fine Art Print
Architectural pencil drawing of Chapel Court at Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge. A3 size.
History
Sidney was founded in 1596 by Landy Frances Sidney, Countess of Sussex, with the first three-sided court deisgned by Ralph Symons in 1595-8. The south side of Chapel Court was built in c. 1628, and joined to Hall Court by the Chapel and ante-Chapel in 1780. The exterior of Chapel Court that we see today is a Gothic remodelling by Sir Jeffrey Wyatville in 1821-33. The Chapel remains a much-loved focal point of the college.
